Kevin O'Brien - Head Novice Coach

Kevin OBrienKevin, a Long Island native, began his rowing career at St. Anthony's HS where he received a variety of accolades including 3 NY State Championships, NJ State Championships, the Head of the Charles regatta and many more. Kevin was recruited by UC Berkeley (Cal) where he honed his skill and gained a deeper knowledge of rowing under head coach Steve Gladstone and freshman coach Geoff Bond. Kevin enjoyed continued success at the collegiate level by winning his second Head of the Charles, a gold medal at the PAC-10 Championships, a silver medal at the IRA National Championship and competed at Henley Royal Regatta in England. After college, Kevin went on to coach the varsity women's team at Arlington HS in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he utilized his knowledge and experience in the sport to help coach and prepare his team to a Section 9 Championship and a strong showing at NY States. Kevin sees joining Port Rowing as an exciting new chapter in his coaching career, where he will share his knowledge, experience and passion for the sport of rowing.
